Sydney Quach

UCI Fellow

Sydney grew up in Orange County all of her life. Ever since she was a kid, she would always enjoy going to the park, taking a stroll, and biking along nature trails. Currently, she is an undergraduate student at the University of California, Irvine studying Public Health Sciences. During her public health courses, she learned that public health not only included community healthcare but also the environment. Throughout her studies, she has realized that the environment plays a key and extremely critical role in the health of communities.

Why do you work in this field?

As previously mentioned, during her public health courses, Sydney realized that human health and environmental health are closely linked. She discovered how environmental issues, such as pollution and climate change, can have a direct and adverse effect on public health. This realization inspired her to gain more experience in environmental conservation work.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In her free time, Sydney is usually baking treats and desserts for her friends and family (even though she doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth herself)! She also enjoys taking hot yoga classes as they challenge her to push her physical limits.

Lastly, what is your favorite outdoor activity?

Having picnics and/or doing fun, relaxing activities (e.g. painting, bracelet making, etc.) with friends in the park are some of Sydney’s favorite outdoor activities. She also enjoys biking on nature trails!
