Pam Lamas

UCI Fellow

Pam Lamas is a fellow joining the Coastal Corridor Alliance, via its partnership with UC Irvine College Corps.  As an intern, Pam will be helping with a vast assortment of digital projects, community-led habitat restoration, and beach cleanups. Her goal is to learn and grow with the organization as it transitions into the new Coastal Corridor Alliance. Most importantly she is ecstatic to be able to be a part of the team that is restoring the protected coastal lands and waters and planning for a publicly accessible Randall Preserve.

Why do you work in this field?

Pam is a junior at UCI, double majoring in Art and Philosophy. However, her interest in environmental preservation and volunteering began at a young age, when she joined her third grade’s Earth Keeper’s club. Ever since then, she has continued to pursue endeavors in climate awareness and outreach much like her new fellowship with the CCA. Growing up in SoCal, Lamas labels herself as a “true beach girl,” so she understands the importance of conserving this coastal area. As a civic-minded person, she enjoys sharing her diverse skills, to help bring equity in ecological practices. She is eager to combine her years in leadership, volunteering with various non-profits, and her love for the environment in order to support the organization.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In Pam’s free time she loves exploring museums, art galleries, and producing her own creative works. She also enjoys doing zazen, studying the dharma, yoga, tai chi, visiting the beach, hiking, cooking, traveling, volunteering, reading/learning, attending concerts, and dancing.

Lastly, what is your favorite outdoor activity?

As a beach enthusiast, Pam loves everything ocean related. Her next goals are to master longboard surfing, get her scuba diving certification, learn how to dance with roller skates on, and snowboard. She also enjoys hiking, ice skating, skateboarding, long distance swimming, and is training to be a triathlete.
