UCI Fellow Alyssa Yoon

Alyssa Yoon

UCI Fellow

Alyssa was born an raised in a small agricultural city in Ventura County. Alyssa spent almost every summer at the beach, learning ocean safety and how to take care of the coast. If she wasn’t at the beach, then she was most likely tagging along with her family, and helping out at the farm. Even though Alyssa always loved the outdoors, she became more conscious of the environment during high school. Alyssa learned the science behind nature in the classroom, and hopes to combine her education with practical experience.

Why do you work in this field?

Alyssa enjoys the outdoors, and she wants to continue surrounding herself in nature. As a student, Alyssa wants to further learn how to care for the coastal corridor, and find ways to incorporate the environment into her studies. She also wants to see others enjoy the outdoors, and help educate why our environment is important.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In Alyssa’s free time, she loves spending time with her friends and family. With her friends, Alyssa often explores new areas and tries new foods. She also likes walking around her college campus and meeting new people at school.

Lastly, what is your favorite outdoor activity?

Alyssa likes going hiking with her friends and family!
