Scott has a deep love and respect for nature and the outdoors that he learned much of from his father, Don Thomas, growing up in nearby Huntington Beach. He admits that as a boy roaming the hills in Costa Mesa by bike, he spent some unauthorized time exploring the Banning Ranch property long before he worked towards helping to save it. Scott, and his wife Cheryl, have spent more than three decades working for environmental causes in Orange County, focusing on open space conservation and the protection of birds. He graduated from Edison High School in 1976. After working for several decades in the Automotive Industry, he earned a degree at night in Environmental Sciences and followed his heart into the wildlife consulting field. For the last 20 years, he has worked professionally with several small Biological Consulting Firms specializing in raptors, other birds, amphibians, and threatened and endangered species. Outside of work and other volunteering, Scott, and his family of two children and two grandchildren try to take full advantage of all that Southern California has to offer, including the beach, mountains, desert, and culture.
